International Visitors to Fraser Coast and South Burnett Up By 9 Percent

International visitation to the Fraser Coast and South Burnett regions has increased by 9% in the year to March 2008, according to the latest International Tourism Snapshot from Tourism Queensland.

The figures just released show that 204,000 overseas visitors arrived in the Fraser Coast/South Burnett region in the year to March 2008, staying an average 4.5 nights in the region.

192,000 of these overseas visitors were holiday makers and the number of international tourists visiting friends and relatives also increased strongly.

Despite evidence of declining numbers of visitors from the UK to Australia and Queensland, the Fraser Coast has bucked the downward trend and there has been a 4% increase in visitors from the UK to our region. The UK remains our largest source market at 28%, Germany is also strong this quarter with 12 % of travelers coming from this market. Continental Europe made up 11% of international visitors, with Canada and New Zealand making up 6% each.
